Nate Langston Palmer (b. 1994) is an American documentary photographer born and raised in Washington, DC. He received his BFA in photography and imaging from New York University, Tisch School of the Arts in 2016. His strategic use of light and expression inform his subject in a way that is concerned with both beauty and the indispensable quality of a person or space.
His first solo exhibition, Song of Sons, was on view in Washington, DC at Chela Mitchell Gallery from June 24 - July 31, 2023. The series follows a dance crew in Washington, DC that is made of a group of young Black men and documents the culture surrounding their style of dance, Beat-Ya-Feet. Using creative expression as its vehicle, the work focuses on their unique journey into adulthood and grapples with issues of masculinity and societal conditioning. Nate’s work has also been featured in group exhibitions in Prague, Czech Republic; Sydney, Australia and across the United States. His list of clients include The New York Times, Google and Rolling Stone Magazine among others. Nate is currently based between Brooklyn, NY and Washington, DC.
