GEOFFREY EDWARDS, L.AC

2021 FARMER-IN-RESIDENCE

Geoffrey “Geo” Edwards is an educator and healing artist whose practice encompasses herbalism, community acupuncture, urban farming, and the creative arts. Geoffrey joined Nicholson in 2021 as our first Farmer-in-Residence where he will oversee our large, organic, neighborhood garden. Envisioned as a central point of engagement with our community, our garden offers a unique opportunity for programming at The Nicholson Project around the intersection of the arts, farming and the natural world.

Geoffrey is creator of Nu Healing Arts Garden and owner of Nu Grain & Pestle, an herb apothecary based in Rockville Maryland that sells value added products and herbal teas, tinctures, extracts, and oil infusions. In addition to his practice, Geoffrey is a Guest Lecturer and Teaching Clinic Faculty in the acupuncture program at the Maryland University of Integrative Health. While completing his studies in herbal medicine Geoffrey began the process of cultivating what he now calls the Nu Healing Arts Garden which includes a wide selection of perennial medicinal and culinary herbs. The initial focus of the garden was primarily education, preservation and conservation of plant based medicines and has now entered a new phase of collaboration with local small scale urban farmers. Beyond his healing arts practice, Geoffrey maintains a growing studio art practice and periodically teaches poetry & literature to teens in the DC metropolitan area as well as virtually to teens nationally and abroad. He loves to infuse the creative process into all of his work, whether on a garden plant walk, in the clinic apothecary, or in the classroom. Geoffrey lives in Silver Spring MD with his artist-educator wife and 3 sons.
